MARLEY RAE ALDERS »»» 20 - JANE'S ON FIRE - MANAGER - SINGLE - SIERRA KUSTERBECKHISTORY Marley had no idea when she started falling for Avery. It just happened, and it hit her like a slap in the face one day when she woke up.
Avery Forrest was like her other half: exactly the same as her. They had the same personality, and loved the same type of music which was one of the main factors that attracted her to the boy. Mar tried not to, but she did pity him. Avery's father had died when he was younger from a serious car accident, and he had died on impact. Marley can still remember him calling her in the middle of the night, describing the dreams he had of his father and she would comfort him, or do her best to do so. Marley wasn't the best with emotions, which was why it took so long for her to realize she loved him. She started noticing she would draw M+A on her notebooks, and scribble his name subconsciously on his arm. Plus, she was dressing nicer to see if he would notice her. Marley wasn't and still isn't the type of person to care about what people think of her, but he was changing her by the minute all because of one silly emotion. Her mother was the first one to notice the change in her, but whenever she asked what was going on, marley often ignored answering her and sometimes got alittle defensive.
When he started noticing her changes, as little as they were at the time, Marley finally spilled and confessed that she loved him, and had for awhile now. She was terrified of how he would react, and whether or not she had just ruined the amazing friendship the two shared. Instead, Avery confessed that he loved her, too. Her heart felt a thousand times ligher, and the two began to date a short time after that when Avery asked her to a movie, but as more than friends. There, during the movie, she had her first kiss. It was perfect to her, despite the fact both of their mouths tasted like soda, candy and popcorn. It was the best year of Marley's life, and even know, she still can't find a way to be as happy as she was then. As time went by, she eventually gave Avery her virginity about a year into the relationship, deciding that it would be best to give it to him since she'd probably love no one like him again.
It was the best time of her life. Until Avery's mother wound up in the hospital with cancer. It was too late for it to be cured, because it had already spread throughout her body and all the two could do was watch as his mom died; and one of her friends. Ms. Forrest had been like a second mother to her, and the day she died was the worst day of Avery's life, but it wasn't for Marley, because a week later after ignoring her phone calls, IMs and texts, Avery tried to kill himself. When she had been called by Avery's grandmother, she rushed to the hospital because she feared by the time she got there, it would be too late and he would have died already. Avery was slowly dying, however, because of his overdose of pills found in the cabinet of his bathroom. By the time she got there, it was hard for Avery to talk and all she could do was hold his hand, sobbing as she watched him die, finally passing ten after five in the morning.
Marley has yet to heal over this event, even though it was almost two years ago. She can't move on, and hasn't tried to, either. It isn't worth it, because when Avery died, he took her heart with him.
